Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
This privacy policy explains what information Human Benchmark Tests (humanbenchmarktests.com, “the site”, “we”) handles when you use the site, how advertising partners use cookies, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.
The short version: there are no accounts, your test scores stay in your own browser, we use Google Analytics to count visits, and the site is supported by ads from Google AdSense, which may use cookies to show and measure ads.
Information we do not collect
There are no user accounts on this site. We do not ask for your name, email address, age, phone number or any other personal details in order to use the tests. Your test results are calculated in your browser and are not sent to us.
Data stored in your browser
The site uses your browser’s local storage, which works like a small file kept on your own device, for the following:
- Test scores. Each result is saved so the score panels and the dashboard can show your history and best scores.
- Theme choice. Whether you picked the light or dark theme.
This data stays on your device and is not sent to our server. You can delete your scores at any time from the dashboard, or remove everything by clearing site data in your browser settings. Private or incognito windows delete it automatically when you close them.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, to understand how the site is used: how many people visit, which pages and tests are popular, which sites and searches send visitors here, and roughly which country and type of device they use. This helps us decide which tests to improve and which pages need work.
Google Analytics sets first party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) and collects information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, your browser, device type, screen size and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. Your test scores are not sent to Google Analytics.
We do not use this data to identify you, and we do not combine it with other information about you. You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing the Google Analytics opt out browser add on, by blocking cookies in your browser, or, where a consent message is shown, by declining analytics cookies. More detail is in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Advertising and Google AdSense
The site is free because it shows advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense, a service of Google LLC, and may also be provided by other advertising companies that work with Google.
- Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Ad partners may also use similar technologies such as web beacons, local storage and device identifiers to measure how often ads are shown and to limit how many times you see the same ad.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices and, in Europe, at www.youronlinechoices.eu. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less related to your interests.
To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Google’s own privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Your scores and theme are kept in local storage, not in cookies, as described above. Cookies on the site are set by Google Analytics, to measure visits, and by advertising partners such as Google, for the purposes listed in the analytics and advertising sections.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers also let you block third party cookies only. Blocking cookies does not stop the tests from working, though ads you see may be less relevant.
Consent for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before analytics or personalised advertising cookies are used, through a consent message provided by a Google certified consent management platform. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the privacy or cookie settings link shown on the site. If you do not consent, Google may still show non personalised ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the site against abuse, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. This information is handled by Cloudflare under its own privacy policy and is not used by us to identify you.
How information is used
The limited information described in this policy is used to:
- Deliver the pages and tests you request and keep the site secure
- Save your scores and settings on your own device
- Count visits and see which pages and tests are used, so we can improve them
- Show advertising that helps keep the site free, and measure how ads perform
We do not sell personal information, and we do not build profiles of individual visitors.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, object to its use or ask for it to be transferred.
- GDPR (EEA and UK). The legal basis for analytics and personalised advertising cookies is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Basic security and delivery processing by our host relies on our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
- California (CCPA and CPRA) and other US states. You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. To opt out of personalised ads, use Google’s Ads Settings or the opt out links above.
Because we do not hold accounts or personal profiles, most data related to you is either on your own device or held by Google (Analytics and AdSense) or Cloudflare. To make a request about data held by those companies, please use their own privacy tools. For anything else, contact us using the details below.
Children’s privacy
The tests are suitable for a general audience, but the site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other websites
Articles on the site sometimes link to other websites, such as research papers or other tools. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, so please read their privacy policies when you visit them.
Data security
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Because your scores are stored in your own browser, anyone with access to your device and browser can see them. You can delete them at any time from the dashboard.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site changes, for example if we add a new advertising partner or analytics service. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made before the new practice starts.
