Click Speed Test

Click inside the box as fast as you can for five seconds and see your clicks per second.

How many times can you click in 5 seconds?

Click or tap the box as fast as you can. The timer starts on your first click.

What a click speed test measures

A click speed test asks one plain question: how many times can you press a button in a set amount of time? On this page that time is five seconds. The count is then turned into clicks per second, so that tests of different lengths can share one unit.

The clock waits for you. Nothing happens until your first click lands inside the box, which means you do not lose time moving the pointer into place. Only left clicks and taps add to the count. While you click, the display shows the time left, your clicks so far and a live CPS figure that settles as the run goes on.

How to read your result

When the five seconds end, you get four pieces of information: your CPS to one decimal place, a rating, the total number of clicks and your personal best.

The rating comes from fixed bands. Anything from 6 to 8.9 is rated Average, and that is where most people with normal clicking land. From 9 to 10.9 counts as Above average, 11 to 13.9 is Fast and 14 or more is Exceptional. Below 6 the ratings drop to Below average and then Slow under 4.

A fair way to compare scores

A score only means something next to another score taken under the same conditions. Before you compare, check these points:

  1. Same length. Short tests reward bursts, longer ones reward stamina. Compare five second runs with five second runs.
  2. Same device. A different mouse, a trackpad or a touchscreen can move your number on its own.
  3. Same technique. Normal clicking and two finger methods are different events.
  4. Averages, not peaks. One lucky run says little. Five runs say a lot more.

The same rules apply when you compare with friends. Agree on the length and the device before anyone starts.

Your history

Every run is saved in this browser. The Your scores panel lists your best, your average and how many attempts you have made, and a trend chart shows whether you are getting faster. Each variant of the test keeps its own history, so a short burst test never mixes with your five second record.

For a breakdown of clicking techniques see the main CPS test page. To check your stamina instead of a burst, try the 10 second click test, and for typical ranges read how fast can you click.

Click Speed Test FAQ

What does a click speed test measure?

It counts how many times you click in a fixed amount of time and divides that count by the number of seconds. The result is clicks per second, usually written as CPS.

Why is my click speed different every time?

Small things change between runs, such as how relaxed your hand is, how cleanly you start and how tired you are. Take several runs and treat your average as your real number.

Can I compare my click speed with a friend?

Yes, as long as you both use the same test length and the same kind of input. A five second mouse score and a one second phone score are not a fair match.
