CPS Test 1 Second

One second, as many clicks as you can. This test measures your fastest burst, not your stamina.

How many times can you click in one second?

Click or tap the box as fast as you can. The timer starts on your first click.

What one second measures

Most click tests last long enough for your hand to settle into a pace. One second does not. From your first click to the end of the timer, you only have time for a single burst, so this test measures how fast your finger can fire before any fatigue sets in.

The clock starts on your first click inside the box, and that click counts. The result shows your CPS to one decimal, a rating, your click count and your best, and one second runs keep their own history apart from every other length.

Why the score swings so much

In a five second test, one extra click adds 0.2 to your score, because the count is divided by five. In a one second test, nothing is divided at all. The number of clicks is the score, so one extra click adds a full 1.0. That alone explains why your results jump around.

Timing adds more noise. Whether a click lands just before or just after the timer ends can decide whether it counts. Over five seconds those edge cases are a small share of the total. Over one second they can be a large share.

So a run of 9 followed by a run of 7 does not mean you got slower. It may mean two clicks fell on the wrong side of the line.

How to get a fair number

Treat a single run as one sample, not a verdict. A sensible routine:

  1. Rest your finger on the button so the first click is instant.
  2. Take five runs with a short pause between each.
  3. Do one loose practice burst first, so your first scored run is not a cold one.
  4. Read the average in the Your scores panel, and use the best only as your peak.

Check the trend over several sessions rather than one, and keep the same mouse and finger throughout.

How bursts relate to longer tests

Your one second score is a ceiling. Longer tests show how close to that ceiling you can stay as your hand tires. If your burst is high but your five second score is much lower, stamina is the thing to train. Compare the two with the standard CPS test, and stretch it further with the 10 second click test.

CPS Test 1 Second FAQ

Why does my 1 second CPS change so much between runs?

In a one second test every single click is worth a full 1.0 CPS, so one missed or extra click moves the score a lot. Small timing differences at the start and end make a big difference too.

Is a 1 second CPS score higher than a 5 second score?

It often is, because your hand has no time to tire. That is why one second scores should only be compared with other one second scores.

How many runs should I take?

Take at least five and look at your average in the Your scores panel. Your best single run shows your peak, but the average shows what you can repeat.
